Shopify charges two types of fees on every transaction: a credit card processing fee (percentage + fixed per-transaction fee) and an optional third-party payment provider surcharge if you don't use Shopify Payments.

• Shopify ($105/mo): 2.6% + $0.30 per transaction, 1.0% third-party surcharge
• Advanced Shopify ($399/mo): 2.4% + $0.30 per transaction, 0.5% third-party surcharge
• Shopify Plus ($2,300+/mo): 2.15% + $0.30 per transaction, 0.2% third-party surcharge

Key: If you use Shopify Payments (powered by Stripe), you avoid the third-party surcharge entirely — saving 0.5%–2.0% on every sale.

• Currency conversion fee: 1.5% on all international orders processed through Shopify Payments
• Third-party gateway surcharge: Charged ON TOP of your gateway's own fees (double dipping)
• Shopify Payments payouts: Additional fees may apply for instant payouts vs. standard bank transfers
• App transaction fees: Some Shopify apps (like ReCharge for subscriptions) add their own per-transaction fees
• Chargeback fees: $15 per chargeback dispute regardless of outcome
